Evening Primrose grows in most temperate climates around the world. As its name suggests, its blooms are the richest yellow at dusk. The seeds are extremely small and are not high yielding; nevertheless its oil contains an unusual fatty acid Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA), an essential fatty acid belonging to the omega-6 series. Evening Primrose oil is a rich source of GLA containing 9-10%. GLA is used to encourage the formation of the messenger family of prostaglandins PGE1.
